Did you know that tax authorities sometimes use a strategy called "naming and shaming"? It's a way for them to publicly share the names of individuals and businesses that haven't fulfilled their tax responsibilities.
Starting July 14, the Oregon Department of Revenue (DOR) will be publishing a list of delinquent taxpayers on their website. They announced this list back in mid-May, giving taxpayers eight weeks to take care of any outstanding debt.
This list will disclose the names of individuals and businesses who owe $50,000 or more in unpaid taxes, penalties, and interest to the state. It will include the taxpayer’s name, business name, the name of any person held personally liable for business debt, current city and state of residence, lien identification number, type of debt, and the current amount due.
Taxpayers can make payment arrangements by visiting the department's online services portal, Revenue Online, or call 503-945-8200 for individuals 503-945-8100 for businesses.
